darkness visible
Nights are bad. I fall asleep easily enough, but after that nothing is easy. My sleep is shallow and brittle. I shift from bed to couch and back again. I wander up and down the stairs, turning lights on and off as I go. “Like a ghost,” says L, who sleeps very well himself.
At the earliest remotely reasonable hour, I get dressed for work and walk out to the car. My hands tremble as I shift gears and I don’t turn the radio on. When I pull in, the parking lot is nearly empty. There’s a cold wind coming off the water and a stale taste in the back of my throat. I can’t remember the last time I slept through the night. It’s almost as if I had a baby.

Like rubbing salt in the wound, isn't it? This just sucks any way you look at it. Thinking of you.

This took my breath away. I'm sorry.
Also thinking of you.
Do you want to kick L awake from time to time, or it better to be alone?
I think that's why I stay up so late-- to make myself too tired to wake up in the middle of the night. Doesn't help keep the weird dreams away. And sometimes doesn't even help me fall asleep when I finally come up to bed. But oh well...
I am hoping for some peace and respite for you.
Sleeping pills perhaps?
I wish I knew when this would get easier or when time would start working in our favor.
nights are hard for me too. it seems like my body still thinks "crying baby". When instead it should know "dead baby".
Nights are the worst.
Thinking of you.
I wish I had something helpful to say.
I know that pills aren't the answer to everything, but sleep is so important. Maybe you can get a prescription to Ambien or something, at least for a while...?
I've always been a good sleeper, but Mr. C started having insomnia & would be up pacing. That was actually the tipping point that got him to finally admit that he needed some help.
I agree with Basilbean. The only good thing that came form my pregnancy was my introduction to Ambien. I can't wait to get another prescription. In fact, I crave that more than margaritas or a cold beer. Ambien.. ahhhh
