a tragedy in six words

For sale: baby shoes, never used.

By Ernest Hemingway. Really.

I know! I read that too. A friend of mine just had a birthday party where we all had to create a six word memoir for her, and she wrote one for each of us. There is a whole book of six word memoirs being created, and the idea came from this six word story by Ernest Hemingway.

Pretty sad image conjured up by those six words- huh?

I can't imagine a sadder six word story that could so effectively say everything it needs. If could write so well, I wouldn't need my blog.

And I usually hate Hemingway.
