disconnections

Last night, I had the bad dream where you’re being chased by a implacable, Javert-like figure for a crime you didn’t commit. In the last scene, you stand trapped, your back to the precipice, one misstep from the final fall.

This morning, the yard was a damp and sickly green. The spring is still so new that the leaves are the same color as the grass.

I have this dream too. The exact same thing! What does it mean? I don't remember ever falling in the dream. But the chase...and the terror of being caught, it seems pretty strong when I'm in the middle of the dream.

my nightmares tend to be about forgetting i enrolled in a course only to be presented with the final exam.

I know that color, but to me it seem embryonic, rather than ill.

I think it's a dream about guilt.

Though, I suppose it could be interpreted as a fear that your darkest secrets will be exposed, in which case, it's almost the same nightmare that Slouching Mom has.

S: Embyonic might be a better description. I just don't like that color. At all.

If it is the color I think it is, it is one of my favorites. I even painted a wall in my living room that color. I will attempt to capture it and place a picture on my blog, so you can let me know.

I think it could be a dream about not wanting to face something--or feeling like you are not able to face it (because of fear or a lack of capacity).

But I think dreams are very personal and are best interpreted by the dreamer.

And maybe this is obvious, but I also think that your reaction to the damp green yard is connected to what you were processing in the dream.

It's only a dream!

That's what I tell my daughter when she has a nightmare.
