you can't go home again

Well, at least I can't. This morning, I finished a high-visibility, stress-generating project at work. I've been in the office since about 5:30 am, and what I'd like to do more than just about anything is to take a few hours of my over-abundant vacation time and go home and collapse. But I can't. Because the evil "guests"(who, incidentally, seem to have ripped a largish hole in the living room couch) are still occupying the house.

I keep telling myself that they'll be gone soon. Just not soon enough.

If you weren't on the other side of the country I'd invite you over to crash at my place. I hope the evil people do something to make good regarding the couch. How soon is soon?

Naaah. I'm sure they'll just deny it and claim that it was always like that. To be fair, it's possible that their kids ripped the cushion and that the parents didn't know.

I think (and hope) that they're leaving at the end of this week.

Ugh, sorry about your couch. And that you can't just go home. Has it really just been a week since they took over your home? I feel like that was weeks ago.

Oh, man. That just SUCKS.

Ouch. A hole in the couch on top of the hole in the head. How rude.

Huh, I thought that was weeks ago as well. Must be your consistently high level of post generation. Well at least the stress-generating project is completed.

Ok, they suck. If I even suspected my kids ripped a hole in a couch in a place we were staying, I'd offer to pay for it to be fixed. No questions.

Heck I'd probably arrange for it to be done before I left.

I swear, these are the type of parents who drive me crazy. The whole permissiveness run amok makes me nuts. Anyway, maybe you can take some time off at a spa? With a nice glass of wine?

I wish I was closer too, you could definitely crash at my place.

This seems crazy to me. One of these days you are going to have to explain to us exactly how this bizarre arrangement came about. And they better darn well do something about the hole in the couch, whether it was the kids or not!

Lori: It is kind of a crazy arrangement.

Aurelia: I'm just guessing it was the kids, because I've exchanged messages with the parents a couple of times and they've never mentioned it. I'm so bad at confronting people, but I suppose I could send them a email saying I noticed that the couch had been torn and see what they have to say.

Ugghh, what a crappy situation to be in. I'd send them an e-mail,but if you want to avoid the "confrontation" e-mail, make sure you send a ton of smileys in it. People accuse me of being upset in e-mails because tone doesn't transfer. Sure you are probably upset, but you probably have some sort of relationship with these people. Then again, it might keep them from ever crashing at your place again.

Hell's bells. I keep forgetting about your "guests." You poor, poor dear.

Speaking of being away from home, aren't you going to France or somewhere soon? Or did I dream that?

I still can't imagine leaving my home so someone else could live there. It is a crazy arrangement.

Never ever allow this to happen again niobe - see how easy that was to write but so hard to say. First your car goes to pot and now someone rips a hole in your couch. On top of it, you can't even go home. If things happen in threes, how many times does it have to repeat? Its about time good things happen in sixes for you!!! Wishing you a relaxing evening in a place away from home and all the worries.

Now I'm confused -- if the parents never mentioned it, how do you know? Either way, it is not guest-appropriate behavior. When I come in and see a nice and whole couch, and then suddenly there's a hole in it, and my kids running over the place... but hey, maybe it was a lightning. Hope no more of such things happen, and you can go home soon.

That really sucks that have ripped your couch. I would ask them to pay to have it fixed. I mean you are going out of your way to help them out. Hope you get the rest you want here soon.

You are too nice, and other people are too obnoxious.
