where in the world

You're East Timor!

You're small and lonely and have finally gotten free of a very bad situation. It seems like everyone was willing to rescue you, though the wait was excrutiating for everyone to wake up and set you free. Now you're still lonely, but happier in the loneliness since you never really liked people to begin with. And people respect you more than you really think they should, using you as an example for what they hope to accomplish.

All too true, despite the fact that I'd probably have trouble even locating East Timor on a map. At least my flag is kind of pretty.

If you want to find out what country you are, take the Country Quiz. Oh, and while I do realize that curiosity doesn't promote feline health, I'd still love to know what country you turn out to be.

I took it twice, and got two answers! I was insulted for myself and Brazil in the first one:
I'm insulted for myself and Brazil!
"You're athletic, charming, and probably a good dancer. Unfortunately, you don't really mind chopping down the rain forest, and you probably consider homeless people expendable in certain circumstances. Of course, your personality is so diverse that it's hard to track down exactly what you're like. You definitely like Pele, the World Cup, and shouting "gooooal" at the top of your lungs."

Next time, Chile:
"You're really skinny, and kind of bumpy in frame, but you're not as rough a person as you used to be. You like long, long, long walks on the beach and avoiding having your rights violated, just like anybody else does. You're even willing to stand up to those with more power and influence than you, trying to bring them to justice. Fight the man!"

hmm apparently I'm Germany:

You're Germany!
"You have a really ugly past, one that defies description. This gives you tremendous guilt, but you've coped with it and flourished into an awfully good person, considering. You've finally made peace with yourself, in so many ways, and you've been able to build on that for a bright and capable future. You've become so enlightened that you're probably a member of the Green Party, or at least listen to their demands."

Here you go:

You're Thailand!

Calmer and more staunchly independent than almost all those around you, you have a long history of rising above adversity. Recent adversity has led to questions about your sexual promiscuity and the threat of disease, but you still manage to attract a number of tourists and admirers. And despite any setbacks, you can really cook a good meal whenever it's called for. Good enough to make people cry.

Hah, I just reread it and it called me a slut!

oh, how fun.

You're Ireland!
Mystical and rain-soaked, you remain mysterious to many people, and this makes you intriguing. You also like a good night at the pub, though many are just as worried that you will blow up the pub as drink your beverage of choice. You're good with words, remarkably lucky, and know and enjoy at least fifteen ways of eating a potato. You really don't like snakes."

I do so like snakes.

Spain. Hmm. Not what I would've picked.

Oh, these are hilarious. I'm Mexico:

You're Mexico!
While some people think you're poor and maybe a little corrupt, you know where it's at, enjoying good food and nice beaches. You like to take things a little slower than those around you, and you really wish the air were cleaner, but sometimes compromises must be made. For some reason, Chevrolet keeps trying to sell you Novas as well, even though they don't really go.

Like Sara, my results left me feeling insulted for myself and for my "country." I am apparently, Israel?!?

I didn't care for their personification of Israel so I shall not repeat it.

So far Niobe- I think you have gotten the best one.

I'm Thailand too. I'm ok with the great cook bit but the rest....

Now riddle me this, Batman: I put the Book Quiz result on my blog, and you were the only nerd to respond. (And I mean "nerd" in the very best sense of the word, since I am a nerd and the people I love and respect most are nerds.) Then YOU put the Country Quiz up and the whole darn world responds. Do I have cooties or something? Or do you think people just prefer geography to literature?

This was fun! I am the United Nations.

Most people think you're ineffective, but you are trying to completely save the world from itself, so there's always going to be a long way to go. You're always the one trying to get friends to talk to each other, enemies to talk to each other, anyone who can to just talk instead of beating each other about the head and torso. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and you get very schizophrenic as a result. But your heart is in the right place, and sometimes also in New York.

It seems I am a Slut along with Eva. I only wish I could recall the slutting. It might explain some things.

They had me sold until the "remarkably lucky" part.

Apparently I'm Cambodia:
"Life's been really rough, but it's slowly improving. You know way too much about the skeletal structure of humans, mostly from being forced to study
it. This has given you a fear of many things, most especially the color red. The future has to be more promising though, and your greatest adversary can now never come back to hurt you any more."

United Nations - I somehow feel that was an insult! lol

Damn. Germany. I don't think I like that, although I am about half German in the way past.

United Nations. I won't post the quote as I see it already listed above--fun!

One thing is for sure. I am not skinny.

Thank, Niobe. This is very funny. I am France -- yes!! (Or is it a gruff Oiu?!?!)

Suz said...

Oh Canada!!!

That was a fun quiz...

missedconceptions said...

Ok, so next time proofread before sending: it should be "OUI" and not "oiu." I have to demonstrate my interest in linguistic purity if I am to associate myself with France.

"You do a lot of drugs ..."

Seems appropriate!

Because Big Brother is probably watching: Waiting Amy is talking about fertility drugs. You know, the kind that are totally legal. She didn't mean to even imply anything else. Really and truly. Cross my heart.

Except for all the pot she's smoking. But that doesn't count, right?

Anyway, I'm the United Nations. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

thanks, that looks like fun, I'll do it tomorrow (makes an easy bit of holiday-blogging, too).
Oh, and I loved the circus story.

Sudan! Wow I wouldn't have guessed that one, but it does fit.

Late to the party, as usual. I am Lebanon. It's actually rather apropos, as I've been feeling rather Eeyore-ish lately.

You're Lebanon!
Your room's a mess. Your house is a mess. Heck, your life is a mess. It all used to be really beautiful, and someone even compared you to Paris once, but that's all been replaced with heartache and struggle. You're small, have been influenced by outsiders for too long, and don't know what to think about religion. At least you smell rather pleasant!

Well... I'm a country that no one has had yet -

You're the Falkland Islands!

You're pretty insignificant in the big picture, but when you have influence, it affects the most important people in your world. Sadly, you don't have much of a will or voice of your own, and it's hard to develop it when your big aspirations are to live on a farm. Your emotional life is stormy and windswept, but you have a few close friends that follow you like, well, sheep.

I'm not sure what to think about this... though i do have a few close friends that have been with me for many, many years and my emotional life is often stormy and windswept and I cant help but to agree with the... well the rest of it... except about when i do have influence it affects the rest of the world... and I have no aspirations what so ever to live on a farm...

Sorry about the lateness of this reply, I have been doing some back reading and have just found this quiz and it sounded like fun... now i'm not so sure... truth hurts i guess.
