a memo to the deity who arranged for the person sitting in that parked car to open her door just as I was driving by, shearing off my rearview mirror:

I get the message. Really, I do.

Some days it feels that way, huh? That stinks. I'm sorry but glad you weren't hurt.

My cousin, who I am very close to, sent me a card a couple of months after we lost our twins and my husband was undergoing a fairly serious health scare. It's not worth describing the picture, but the words in the card were, "Do you ever start to wonder if your Guardian Angel is out taking a smoke?" It made me laugh then, and I hope it might give you a smile.

OH NO.

Sigh.

I actually thought it was kind of amusing, in a costly-but-not-quite-costly-enough-to-be-covered-by-insurance kind of way.

The message I'm taking from it? Don't look back.

That would be the Parking Aspect of the Godhead, I think. Assuming you're a monotheist, which I understand is not a safe assumption. Even if regarded as a separate entity, it needs to be appeased with quarters. At 15-minute intervals.

OH Geez. Hope it wasn't too costly. Driving the new car?

Mrs. Collins said...

Crap! Not the new car!! Hopefully it messed up her door too. Oh how petty of me!

If I recall correctly, I believe the owner of the parked vehicle is at fault.

However, I get that it has nothing to do with the finances. It's just another way for Life to jump out and shout, "Gotch ya!" and scare the shit out of you, even though you're expecting it.

I was once involved in a chain reaction when a tow truck driver opened his door too fast sending cars kareening into the opposite lane, everyone braking, and I was on my bike and went straight into a car. He looked up at everyone as if to say, "what?" And I hate those little demigods, too. Evil, pure evil. Actually have a post baking on this myself.

Thirtysomething and Monica: Yes, it was the new car. No, her car didn't get even the tiniest scratch.

That's definitely the way to go through life -- oblivious. . . and lucky.

Oh for pete's sake...well, it's sort of like christening the car, right?

Now you can relax and not worry about future scratches and dents!

Oy! Poor car!

Crap.

The gods think they're soooo funny sometimes.

I'm sorry :(

RRrrrr. Frustrating!

Definitely, don't look back.

Oh no! So sorry about the car. I'm glad you have a tentative cycle date, though. I understand how hard it is to generate much or any optimism.

Damn! I hate the lucky oblivious people! Well, if it makes you feel any better, my car got broken into a few years ago, and after throwing everything around the car, the only thing they took was the passenger side mirror. And no, I never repaired it, just sealed up the side, and painted the color of the car. (yes, i'm cheap)

Oh, yuck!!

I have very bad luck with cars, and now my husband won't let me drive one not under warranty. For example, one day I was driving, and the power steering pump literally fell off the car. Lost. Gone forever.

well at least you didn't hit them. what would that have meant? (sorry to be such a smart ass. i'll go back to my blog with head down.)

Don't look back is a good way to look at things, because really, you can't change anything, no matter how much you would like to.

Somedays you're the pidgeon, somedays you're the statue.

For what it's worth, I have many of those statue days.

You poor thing. There are many a days I'm in that same position--and it sucks. HUGS!

Wow. What timing--I bet movie stunt people get paid big bucks to learn to do things like that.

Well shit. Annoying.
Let's hope the deities get their fill with minor mischief and give you a pass on major things from now on, ha?

You have such a way with words, your post made me laugh out loud.

How annoying though. Hope the repair process is smooth and painless.

I am right there with you. Some of my messages from the universe have been downright hysterical in the toddler-style concrete, absolute, don't hold back communications. It can be good to laugh a little at the universe.

Hey, at least you weren't on a bike. :)

So sorry. What a bother.
