subjectivity

Without thinking about it too much, what's the first word/phrase/thing that comes to your mind when you look at the picture above?

And, yes, that's me. And, yes, those are my books (well, really, L's books). And, yes, I'm still having fun with my $10 camera.

Honestly, what first crossed my mind, is reading the titles of the books. I love to read, love books, so I am always interested in what other people read/have on their bookshelves. Don't hate me, but I honestly didn't the person in the picture until you pointed it out. That is how book crazy I am.

I love the quality of this image. And I love that you are using a $10camera to capture such beauty. Bravo.

I love the idea of taking pictures of bookshelves...it just seems to say more than a list of the books themselves.

That it looks like a painting. And, I wish we could see the rest of the picture - of you!!

My first thought:

You are very twisted and very, very intelligent.

In all honesty - the first thing I thought of was Hey, I have that Marquis de Sade book too! Hmmm.

Where else but on Niobe's blog do Salinger and the Marquis de Sade live on the same bookshelf and are captured with a $10 camera?

You are blonde? I have always pictured you as a brunette.

I looked at the titles first too so the first word that popped into my head was sadist. That's what Marquis de Sade was, right?

I also didn't notice you until you pointed you out and I also pictured you brunette too.

Interesting selection of books... :)

The first thing I thought was "you're blonde!" - although I have no idea why. But I third the thought that I pictured you brunette. Go figure!

I too couldn't really think of a phrase, 'cause I was busy reading the titles. Then I noticed the picture of you, and I too thought "spooky", just due to the exposure.

I always pictured you as brunette too, even dark olivey complected. I guess its the greek reference of your name. But I did know about the blonde from your uncle's painting.

I'm thinking of getting one of those cameras!

The first think I thought, even before reading anything, was books. How original, eh?

Than I tried to read the book titles.

Julia: And here I thought I was being an open book. Though, come to think of it, all the books are, well, closed.

This photo is like a piece of art. I love it. And it rocks since it came from that $10 camera!

I vote for haunted too.

The color scheme reminded me of my sister, this was the first thing to come to mind.

Then two of the titles came into focus--The Last of the Just and Marquis de Sade--perhaps because of the blue behind them.

Then my eyes moved to your face.

I did always picture you as a blonde. But this is, I believe, because you have mentioned it your writing.

Lovely photo. I'm asking for a new camera for Christmas. Maybe I'll get myself one of those $10 cameras as well.

I guess this just goes to my one-track mind, but, the first word that came to mind was...
sadomasochism... - it's the Marquis de Sade next to The Slave...

Work

Maybe because I'm a lost English major and the sight of a somehow-related stack of books makes me think, "Oh no! The paper's due on Friday and I haven't even finished the reading!"

it reminded me of someplace from a long time ago (at one time my parents had a used book store, before they divorced when i was 5)
