don't ask me how i know

You probably already know this, but if you eat two butterfinger candy bars in quick succession, you won't feel especially good for the rest of the afternoon.

However you probably don't know this. If you have very young children or if you don't require too much in the way of entertainment, you can play moderately amusing games at this Danish-language site. Although what text there is is in Danish, the site is directed at a pre-literate audience, so no reading is necessary.

Just click on the bug-eyed (is that redundant?) bee. You'll be transported far, far away to a magical island of creepy-looking flora and fauna. Go to the bottom of the screen and click on the blue bird that looks vaguely like a penguin. You'll see three creatures on a bridge. Click on the monkey and let the games begin.

You can create and print out never-before-seen animals like the gofantstruds, with the head of a gorilla, the body of an elephant and the legs of an ostrich. You can try to feed snacks to animated animals, who'll noisily spit them out if they don't like them. Or you can help the Nikolaj, the little penguin who lives in the jungle, leap from log to log across the great grey-green, greasy Limpopo River, all set about with fever-trees.* If Nikolaj makes it to the other side, he'll be rewarded with a heaping stack of jam-topped pancakes. Which probably would look quite tasty to someone who hadn't just snarfed down two butterfinger candy bars.

*Fever trees, despite their name, don't actually cause or cure fever. They just happen to flourish in the same swamps that breed the mosquitos that carry malaria.

That was decidedly fun, though I don't get why the bee has one big eye and one normal one.

I liked the one where the animals sing atonally around the campfire, though it took a while to figure out what *I* was supposed to do and why the penguin kept booing at me.

: I am so, so happy that someone actually tried these games. *I* love them, but I was worried that my directions might be so complicated that they would discourage anyone from playing.

This was freaky! I think, to fully appreciate it, one must be on *some* kind of sugar high. Like if you snarfed (LOVE that expression) down a couple of butterfinger candy bars...or maybe some home made brownies? And by you, I mean me.

Oh Meg, I just made brownies! I'll be trying the games as soon as they are done!

I LOVE butterfingers. If I had 2 right now I would indeed snarf them down. At Halloween I purposely buy the bag that has them so I can horde them for myself. I do this despite my son's peanut allergy. Does this make me a bad mother?

This is great - I love it! It took me a few tries to get to the monkey - I must have been clicking on the wrong blue animal at the bottom. This is what I'll be doing next week when I need to take a break from working and no one has posted anything new to read!

I LOVE games. Even games like these...they are the perfect thing to spend time on, especially when attempting to avoid doing work!

slow day at work?

Painted Maypole: Absolutely. One of my things got postponed for a month and I'm working on a long-term project that I can't do without my secretary, but she's helping out another team today and won't be in on Monday.

'Cause I'm *sure* you wanted to hear all these fascinating details.

You see, this is why we women need to stay in the work force!!! Buterfingers and cool video games:) Thanks for the babysitter, I know what my kids are doing this weekend, "learning a new language" (at least that's how I'll convince myself it's okay for them to play...all day)

I can eat four candy bars in quick succession without feeling sick, a skill I perfected during the Halloweens of my youth.

Jo(e): Do you give lessons?

I had to eat a snickers bar for my GTT when I was last pregnant. Bleh. Looks like my sweetness/calories punch tolerance has been reset.
