i think i made you up inside my head

My last few posts have been kinda dreary, even for someone with my tropism towards depression. So, in hopes of producing something a little more towards the rainbows-on-roses-and-whiskers-on-kittens end of the spectrum, I decided to steal the album cover meme from Painted Maypole. It goes like this:

1. Click on this link. The title of the page is the name of your band.

2. Click on this link. The last four words of the final quotation on the page are the title of your album.

3. Click on this link. The third picture is your album cover.

4. Take the pic, add your band name and album title and voilà!

Try it yourself. And if you end up posting the result on your own blog, leave a link. Or, if you're not up to the tedious photoediting involved, how about just leaving a comment with the name of your band, your album, and a description of the picture?

edited to add: Go check these out. They are seriously, seriously great.

Album covers by: Amelie; Sarah; Lori; Sara; Katie; Waiting in Line; Isis; Ewe; Missing One; DD; Sharah; Monica; Catherine; Caro; LAS; Calliope; Jule; Angel Mom.

If anyone else puts one up, I'll try to add it as well.

I love this meme! And that seriously is a cool album cover. But alas, I don't have photoshop anymore. I need to see if I can find free photo editing software online that is compatible with Vista...

Mine is seriously weirdshit.
Band name: Kin Yang-Song
Album title: Them into the impossible
Cover: A woman wearing glasses and a bunch of bananas on her head with her turned off laptop turned towards the camera and several stuffed monkeys on the keyboard and next to it. There is a bulletin board in the background and a piece of paper on the monitor with a handdrawn graph entitled Sales and the graph itself doing a jagged and steep descend.
Like I said-- weirdshit.

My picture is a white light switch on a creamy colored wall. There's text running across is in different fonts, but it's too small to read.

Mine has just gone up. I particularly like my album title, and the picture is kind of appropriate.

band: the two thousand words
album: higher level as friends
cover pic: looks like a close-up of a ripped-up cactus, scabbed and torn

my asshole of a brain kept trying to read meanings into all of that, yet, as usual, there is none. (i also kept looking through the quotes to see what i would have liked to get more...)

I have to do this later, when I have access to photoshop and a sys op.

But, cream-colored ponies and girls in white dresses?

I've always hated that movie.

Got a problem:

Band name (Patio Bonito) and album name ("Learn, Unlearn, and Relearn") worked quite well, the cover picture

http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=2214137685&size=o

has a license that does not allow derivetive works (like cropping to square and adding text). Help me, what shall I do?

niobe said...

Uh, generate another random picture that doesn't have those restrictions? Email the photographer for permission? Just describe the picture, but don't actually photoshop it? Don't do the meme?

Because the pictures were generated randomly, it's going to be pretty much impossible for anyone else to go back and check to see if the photo they used had any particular restrictions on its use. Good thing you thought to look at the beginning.

If one of the original photographers notices one of their pictures being used in a way that upsets him/her, I would hope that s/he would contact the person who had, no doubt innocently posted it.
