love and a question*

First, the love:

Aunt Becky at Mommy Wants Vodka (and if you're not already reading her blog, you should be), gave me the trippy award below. Thank you. Thank you. (lots of air kisses).

Find other recipients of the Daily Dose Award here.

While there are many of you who I read daily or almost daily, I'm giving this one to Meg at The.Para.Graph, whose black little heart is disturbingly similar to my own.

And I am also the lucky recipient of two E for excellent ratings: one from Magpie and one from Slouching Mom.

I hand them off to the following excellent bloggers:

Lori at Losses and Gains
Cinnamon Gurl at Write About Here
Aurelia at No Matter How Small
Amelie at Amelies Welt
Tash at Awful But Functioning.

Now, the question: tell me if, hypothetically, the E weren't for excellent, what word beginning with E do you think best describes this blog?

*The title of this post comes from this poem, which I remember fondly as the very first poem that we read in Mrs. Anderson's tenth grade English class. Mrs. Anderson probably remembers us somewhat less fondly, since, instead of watering her plants, we sowed them with salt.

well, of course, it's got to be e for elliptical, defined as "characterized by extreme economy of expression or omission of superfluous elements."

I went to a similar highschool to yours and then I went back to teach there. I'll bet she remembers you fondly.

I'm having fun looking up E words. At first I thought engaging, but now I am thinking elucidative.
Great choices for passing the E on.

Enigma. Enveloping. Eccentric (but in the best way possible).

And often, Eureka!

Oh and thanks. Was just thinking my blog needed . . . . something. Wasn't thinking of a capital letter, but by gum, I'll make it work.

Eccentric, erudite, emphatic and elusive.

How about E for eloquent, I come here to get my daily dose of high brow conversation (you know what I mean!).
Certainly not something I get from the kids at school!

Enigmatic.

Engaging.

And you're welcome for the trippyness. You deserve it.

Exceptional!

I agree with "enigmatic."

E is for especial. And thank you!

Wow! Thanks so much!! I wasn't feeling all that "excellent" today but you have now changed my mind!

I can't believe nobody has said "existential" yet!

Dear Niobe,
I'm so glad that I found your blog. Everyone told me to go to "Compassionate Friends" after our son died. It was creepy. I've quit my therapist. I don't pick up the phone much these days, to or fro. And all the dead baby blogs have angel wings and God all over them. Meanwhile, the grief makes it feel like the space behind my eyes has been scooped out.

I'm pretty fresh (born June, died July) and lost.
I'll be reading.

Ergonomic, cause you've always got my back (and that other readers). But I guess that's more the blogger than the blog. It's cheesy, but I'm out of E's.

How about evolving? I've seen your tone change a few times.

Eloquent sprang to mind, but now that I'm here, I see that elliptical is so much better. I like evolving too. Very much so.

Esoteric? Egocentric? Elephant?

Nope, none of those work.

Extraordinary.

Why do I want to say Eery? Maybe it's the poem.
Empathetic is better.

I like enigmatic.

Oh - I missed enagmatic... that seems perfect to me.

Aurelia said...

Thank you very very much!

As for e-words, I don't know....everyone has taken all the ones I'd thought of. But if I have to copy, I'd enigmatic.

I have to agree with enigmatic, and eloquent, of course. And a little eccentric.

About the post above. I saw it last night, and have been thinking since about all the ways in which life messes with us. That scene you describe, and how eerie it is that neither the one you were talking to nor the ones you were carrying are here now.
