feeling sorry for myself

Despite appearances to the contrary, I'm not really all that fond of trolling the internets* for sympathy. But I'm going to do it anyway. It's probably nothing. I'm sure I'm going to be fine. But on Monday, I'm going in for some exploratory surgery. Not fun at all. But I really don't want to talk or even think about it.

Cheer me up by telling me something good -- no matter how small -- that's happened to you lately.

*I originally wrote: internest, which strikes me as one of those felicitous typos, kinda like heartbraking or free rain.

Edited to add: I can't tell you how much I appreciate any comments you'd like to leave here. But, though I usually love emails, please, please, please, DO NOT email me with questions or even the most anodyne of comments about this. I mean it.

Well, let's see... both of the Wondertwins graduated from Grade 8, The Girl with Honours. Oh, and My hubby brought me home flowers for no apparent reason.

The weather here is perfect: warm during the day and cool at night for sleeping, so we haven't had to turn on the air conditioning, either.

Those are all good things. Good luck and I will send some positive thoughts your way on Monday. :)

So, will it cheer you up that I had to look anodyne up on dictionary.com? And still am not quite sure what I'm not to e-mail?

Something good - I actually got called for a job interview! but nervous.

For the first time in six years, I am visiting the US where I grew up. It's great reconnecting with old friends and spending time with my sister.

Yesterday we had a lovely, wild thunderstorm. Rain, thunder, lightning, wind...fabulous. The smell was intoxicating.

I had the most incredible sex last night... :)

Thinking of you. Not in that way.. (ok, now I just seem weird)

I'm going to be sculling in the Marina in one short hour.

Good luck!

Which Box: The Dictionary.com definition isn't exactly the best. Try Merriam Wesbster.com .

Or, if you don't feel like following the link -- I was using "anodyne" in the sense of "innocuous" or "inoffensive."

Oh thordora, you minx. Here's my good news.

1) I did NOT have incredible sex last night. I had an incredible SLEEP. YAY KATE.

2) Ben now takes a bottle, so no more breastfeeding. Made it 14 months. Have tube-sock-bosom. But am now no longer hormonal, and the lifting of that veil makes me realize how downright loopy I was. I feel normal. And the other veil has lifted too. My body is manufacturing its own antidepressants, I swear.

3) It's gorgeous out today, and Evan has his third day at the lido for "swimming lessons". It's fun.

On Monday I will refrain from all condiments in a salute to you. Strength and wishes that it's nothing more than an inconvenience, that you get what you want, that whatever this chapter is closes neatly so you can leave it behind you.

My little one pooped on the potty instead of in his pants this morning. (I am pathetic.)

The baby duck that was hatched in the shrubs by my front door let me take her (his?) photo this morning.

What is not good is the effing hold music I am listening to right now. Who is the boss of hold music and why do they have such shit taste?

I overendulged on the constant flow of booze at a company event on Tuesday evening in order to avoid the looks and the questions that people were inevitably going to lodge at me regarding "how I was doing," I didn't wake up with a hangover!

I discovered reviews of librarian porn novels on the internest last night and they entertained me greatly...

I hope all goes well on Monday.

I saw this Macroon Pyramid Candle advertised somewhere and thought of you.

My a/c works.

Ok if I think of you Monday? I could probably refrain from condiments, too.

I just got $6,000 for my nonprofit. We're using it to bring east coast inner-city kids out to the mountains this summer for a week long sports camp. Oh, and I also just got a speeding ticket. I was going 15 over, but he knocked it down to five, so I guess that's good news.
Here's to a quick and easy visit to the dr. on Monday--hopefully it will be nothing more than a brief inconvenience.

A long cool summer has made my peonies last longer than usual -- and this, their third year, is a gorgeous one -- giant, crepe-paper like blooms the pale pink of ballet shoes -- so heavy they hang their heads -- next year I'll put a fence around them -- and I can't bear to cut them for the table they bring me so much joy outside.

Man, I am feeling rather sorry for my own self so this may be a stretch . . .

Something good . . . OK, here's the best I can do:

I got a few really "sweet" pots out of the last kiln load. The kind that made me go "OOOOoooh."

And we ARE having free rain here today. Didn't cost me a cent.

Okay toodles, Julius slept for 5 straight again!

Which means I slept for 5 hours straight again!

Which means that someday I may achieve sanity again!

I really enjoyed SYTYCD last night. I'm catching up on my exhaustion. We have our moving date: Aug. 25. We're going to my parents' cottage this weekend, after a mini-night out on Friday -- our fourth time since Swee'pea was born.

Despite being greater than 100 degrees everyday for 3 weeks, somehow a pansy seed blew into the middle of my grass, sprouted and blossomed. Now I have purple flowers.

This is dully work related but I have finally finished an overdue appraisal and a tedious note of a hearing which has taken twice as long as the hearing itself to write. This means I can read blogs before I go home - yey!

I'm getting my nails done tomorrow and mentioned this to my husband. He took my self-manicured hand in his, evaluated my nails, and pronounced, "What are they gonna do to them? They already look so good." Ambiguous pronouns aside, that was really sweet.

Well, my Husband is feeling much better - almost back to normal, knock on wood, so, that's actually a really good thing for me.

Um...also, one of the partners in my law firm brought in my favorite cookies yesterday, so, that was also a good thing. (Small scale, but, there you go.)

Lately - my otherwise headstrong and stubborn child has actually been behaving herself at preschool - unless you want to call the 'mermaid incident' (that is, taking off all her clothes and running around in her birthday suit) misbehaving. I think of it as being mischevious....

Sending you good thoughts.

It's my birthday tomorrow, and when I saw my parents today I didn't hate any of the presents they got me! That made me happy, I still liked my presents to myself better, but I can live with that.

Oooh sorry, happy news, erm, I didn't crash the trailer when I drove it from my parents house, however I can't reverse with it! I had to comedy unhitching and turning round in front of some peoples house!

I haven't heard from my in-laws in over a week because they're pissed at me (which isn't really good news) but it has been really quiet around here and that is music to my ears.

I'm going with a friend to see another friend who moved away in March. I miss her and our coffee breaks. I know we'll have a great time!

Oh, and my birthday is on Sunday and I bought myself a new robe!

I'll be thinking of you on Monday. I hope it's quick and painless.

There are TWO sets of grandparents here to dote on two very excited toddlers....and the doting was so exhausting that now everyone is sleeping and I am blog reading in blissful silence.

The sun is shining and the sky is a beautiful pale blue, without a cloud in the sky.

And I will think of you and cross my fingers until Monday than you have a few minutes free of stress and worry, on Monday that everything is smooth sailing, and after Monday that the results are good and that things move forward in a much happier way.

The weather finally remembered what summer is like, so we've been to the beach on the weekend. Twice. And R gave me a Gorillapod for our anniversary, and that's totally cool even though it takes me ages to adjust it.
I'll be thinking of you on Monday.

I was finally able to find a home for all 5 of the kittens born in our garage a few weeks ago. And as an added bonus, they also took the mother kitty who looks suspiciously large around her mid section which means I probably also just saved myself from having to do this all over again....

Thinking good thoughts for you on Monday...maybe they'll find a winning lottery ticket in there:) Stranger things have happened on other explorations, no doubt. (Which is not to imply other explorations on YOU, BTW)

We still have a bit of food from my sister's wedding, so I don't have to cook tonight. Maybe not even tomorrow night. We've made progress on our Netflix stash, so we should get a few other movies in shortly. I know what I need to do for my big project at work, even if I haven't done it yet.
No condiments for me either on Monday. But I think the key question is, how soon after the surgery are you allowed macaroons?

Antigone said...

Of course that's how it would have to turn out - you get a terminal illness and your baby lives.

Something good?

I shaved my legs!

The columbines in our garden bloomed a beautiful red-pink with yellow centers-- such a delicate and beautiful flower-- I was happy and surprised especially after several days of 100 degree weather a few weeks ago.

I found out that there is something the vet can give my dog for her problem, should it worsen. I was so astonished, I figured it was something we were going to have to live with and adjust to. It really, really made my day.

I bought a new kiddie pool for the schipperkes and filled it with cold water. The dogs love it and are still running in and out of the pool 6 hours later. Our oldest, who at 12 is the matriarch of the bunch prefers to rest in the shade by the edge of the inner rim and watch over the youngsters. It is a simple pleasure on a very hot summer day.
I will be thinking of you on Monday.

I am trying to think of something good, but I am having difficulty coming up with something. Oh, I know! I finally found a Sigg water bottle in the 1 litre size. Today, I drank 6 litres of water in my 8 hours at work. Can you guess how many times I had to pee??

Is it too late to tell you something good? :) I am so behind on blogs.

I haven't blogged about this yet. Trying to form the right words in my head. My mom got her results back from her scans. All of her bloodwork came back amazing. But the best part, all of her tumors have shrunk by half. The doctor is amazed. We are just thankful!

HUGS!

I wanted to take Ace and a friend to Coney Island for a day of fun. Do you wonder what Coney Island is? Well picture Disneyworld run by convicts.

Alas we were cursed with Thunderstorms and went swimming at the YMCA instead.

Well, damn. Niobe I will be thinking about you.

Some good things to cheer you up - walking in a summer rain, spontaneously going on a little get-away, or of course a bag of Dove extra dark chocolate works wonders. Amazing effects. Really.

Here the goings on for us have been quite fine - Journey graduated from Preschool all proud, the mountain weather has been just gorgeous, my birthday passed without incident, and well...what more can ya ask for?
