long way round

Thanks so much for sharing your good news. Though I enjoy the rich chocolaty goodness of schadenfreude* as much as the next blogger, I can (believe it or not} occasionally find happiness in others' good news. Anyway, here's mine.

There was another ultrasound this morning and everything looks fine; everything looks great; everything looks perfect. Though when I say "looks," what I mean is that's what the doctor said, because I kept my hand over my eyes the entire time.

I know this is good news. Really, I do. But what I can't help thinking is: at this point last time, everything looked perfect too.

*Speaking of which, check out this yummy-looking recipe for Schadenfreude Pie. As they say: "Joy at the misfortune of others -- and pie. Truly the best of all possible worlds."

I'm glad you're having a better day today!

And I've got fingers and toes crossed that everything looks perfect from here on out!

That is also how I view every good news so far. But I also keep telling myself that if there is to be that mythical ending others keep telling me is actually possible, this is how it has to come about, with little bits of good news along the way.

Pie.... yum.

Niobe,
congrats on the ultrasound. However, I am really writing to say just how much I love reading your blog. I never know what it will bring me, a cathartic burst of emotion, a good laugh, a wrinkled forehead as I try and decipher your vocabulary, or just a simple smile. Thanks for sharing your voice on the internet!

I am so glad to hear that everything looked great! I know its hard...just take it day by day, scan by scan...I promise that eventually you will start to feel better about things. I can't say when, but it will happen, I promise. Thinking of you and your little one and praying for the absolutely best!

HUGS!

I read this post through my fingers, if that makes you feel any better.

So many, many milestones, aren't there. Sigh.

so hard to believe in the "good" and "normal" these days. Sigh
I'll have a piece of pie for you tonight.

I love this kind of good news. Long may it continue.

glad that everything "looks" good-- and hoping that the good news continues--I understand your feelings though of waiting for something bad to happen--up until my son actually was in my arms-- I was still waiting for that-- and still am in some ways..

Another blogger, now offline, wrote "Life is made of 1000 miracles". They're all needed, the early ones too.

Everything looks fine now. It needs to for everything to look fine later. The foundational steps. Or in other words, it's not bad news.

That's about as much joy as I permitted myself during the third pregnancy.

Thinking of you for Monday.

Well you made it through, even if you weren't looking. You did it.

Am I the only one who thinks that pie looks DISGUSTING?

are you familiar with the schadenfreude song from Avenue Q? If not, you must find it on youtube (I hope it's there.) it is worth it for a good laugh.

I can't help but think had our experiences been different, "everything looks good" would have been fabulous, fabulous news. Knowing what we know (having had to experience what we've experienced) how can it bring us any long-term measure of peace at all? It just can't.

Glad everything looks good, Niobe.

I'll be thinking of you on Monday, hope it all goes well and is over quickly and that the news is all boringly good.

So far so good is fine for now.

So when will the point change where everything didn't look perfect last time.

I remember that it sort of happened over the course of weeks, so will you feel slightly better over the course of those same weeks, or at a certain point like only 26 weeks?

Or are you winging it for now?
