i write letters

Dear Fancy and Expensive Linen Company:

While most people will eventually figure out that it's an abbreviation for the size "standard" (which, in the US, is more commonly known as "king," anyway), printing STD in large letters on the packaging is not likely to increase the sales of your sheets.

love,
niobe

Well, I think the more p.c. term is "STI" nowadays, anyway :-)

Hmm. A friend of mine and his wife were recently shopping for mattresses, and were amused to find that the queen set they were considering was called "Solitude." So if it's a choice between solitude or an STD in bed, I wonder which one most people would choose.

(I think unicorns and kitties dancing down a rainbow would make a fine new blog header.)

I nearly choked, I laughed so hard. It is amazing how some things actually make it onto the shelves!(that could be frightening if we put some thought into it)

And AWESOME news about the Ob.

Can't quiiiiite picture you being about fuzzy 'widdle' anythings, especially kitties! ;)

Re; post below, should we start talking about baby dust and giving you ((hugs))? Ack. But good news. A good doctor is a good thing.

Love it! However, my all-time fav is a description of a men's cologne in an A.von book that referred to it as "sensual woody". I'm usually naive enough not to notice that kind of thing, but even I laughed out loud!

Wow, is a King really standard in the US? Here a standard double bed is what you call a Queen, I think. Smaller bedrooms, probably :P

STD's for Christmas for everyone!

Rebecca: I wondered about that too. But I think that, in context, "standard" referred to a standard king, rather than the even more enormous "California king."

OMG about the STD

And I am very very glad about the OB. How did you find this one?

You should really write Niobe's Big Book of Helpful Hints someday. How else would they find out?
And very good news about the rainbows. Happy for you.
