fun and educational

There must be at least a couple of you out there who, like me, have been desperately searching the internets for a video of the US vice-presidential debate dubbed into French.

I'm pleased to report that your search is over.

On a more serious note, if you want to practice your French, this site has a great selection of frequently updated short educational French videos.

And, because I'm obsessed with other languages,* if anyone has any foreign language sites to recommend (especially ones that are really, really easy to understand and/or that are aimed at children), please leave a link in the comments.

*Especially, but certainly not limited to, French, German, Danish and Spanish.

This is not educational but it is fun. Miss M is ADDICTED to French language YouTube clips of Pat and Stanley, the animated hippo and dog.

Sadly they don't update horribly frequently, but we love Italy from the Inside where kids explain kid-centric terms/words.

I'm off to check out some of these French ones, thanks!

(P.S. I picked apples this weekend too, and am going to make applesauce and try out smitten kitchen's apple cake. mmmmm.)

http://www.poissonrouge.com/ is in English, Spanish and French, the parts of it that use words, anyway.

BTW, "Comfort Me With Apples" is also an execrable and self-serving book by Ruth Reichl, though I'm sure she found the title in the same place you did.

Notes in Spanish (notesinspanish.com) has a nice podcast which is not too hard to follow (actually I should listen to it a lot more), and they now even provide worksheet if you want to follow it more seriously.

There's kind of a silly one for French at www.frenchassistant.com (I think). It's good for grammar and is geared towards kids but fun for adults too. Amusez-vous bien!

I opened this in my reader thinking I'd clicked on a different author and was really confused until I realized it wasn't her but you. I think it has completely and permanently marred how I'll read you from now on.

I looked for sites in Danish when I first moved here but haven't looked for ages. Maybe it's time to look again....

Another recommendation for www.poissonrouge.com I listed this site as my classroom weekly website last week. It's fun to play around on.
