talk me down (updated: everything's fine)

So, I went to the appointment this morning. It was scheduled for 8:30 and I got there at about 8:25 and waited. And waited. And waited some more. At 9:30, Kyrie still hadn't arrived and, when I checked my voicemail, there were no messages. I called her cellphone and landline -- no answer. This is not like Kyrie at all, so I asked the nurses to call to see if Kyrie had checked into the hospital. No, she hadn't.

I realize that it's likely just a mix-up of some kind. But I'm sure you can imagine all the nightmare scenarios running through my mind on an endless technicolor reel.

It's probably just pregnancy brain on holiday fudge. Breathe - and keep us posted.

Hoping it's a simple mixup here, too.

And the thing is, I talked to Kyrie just yesterday afternoon when she called to tell me she had had to schedule the appointment for 8:30 Wednesday morning, Christmas Eve -- apologizing profusely even though I said it really didn't make any difference to me.

There has to be a reasonable and acceptable explanation for why she didn't show. I hope you get answers soon and will update ASAP.

I'm sure its just a mix up. Thinking of you.

i hope hope hope it's just crossed wires. but please update us as soon as you can.

I am going to go with the pregnancy brain..I am sure there is an explanation. Keep us posted.

I feel certain it was just a scheduling mixup and will all be resolved. Hopefully before you even have the chance to come back and read more comments.

Maybe her car broke down and she forgot her cell phone is dead?

Tash said...

We had an ice storm here this a.m. Even if nothing happened to them, they may have been unable to even pull out of their driveway, or use their phone. They may be snug on their couch. Hang tight. Hanging with you.

Thinking of you and hoping that your mind is at ease soon. Update when you can. Good thoughts for you - lots of them.

Keep the faith, k?

I'm going with the "overslept" theory.

Please update as soon as you know. I'm sitting on shpilkas with you in spirit.

Please tell me that you've heard from her by now? I'm going to be thinking of this alllll day.

niobe said...

I'll update as soon as I hear anything.

Power out? Storms? Pay as you go phones?

I know what your brain is doing-but this could be preggo brain/exhaustion slept in, didn't hear phone-so many things.

Please don't worry so hard. Although I know you will.

You wouldn't happen to have Ariana's cell number, would you?

I am on edge right along with you.

I was going to say pregnancy brain, or even--with all the bad weather up there, maybe her power went out and her alarm didn't go off so she's still asleep? And her cell phone and landline phones aren't in their bedroom?

Meg said...

It's totally just a mix up. Do you have her wife's phone number (can you 411 her?)
You HAVE to post again later today after you hear from her so I won't check your blog 50 times today :-)

janis said...

Holding good thoughts. I hope you hear from her soon.

I'll mirror what most others said and tell you that I'm sure it was just a mix up or a transportation (ice) issue, but I can absolutely understand how you're feeling and can't say I wouldn't be having the exact same questions. I wish I could help you find an answer sooner than later so you can take that deep breath and relax. I'm sure it will be okay.

I'm hoping it's just something simple and stupid.
There's no point getting all worked up now. Keep telling yourself "It's probably nothing" k?

bound to be something like snow or car troublevor flat mobile. Sending good thoughts your way.

What a horrible feeling...

debbie said...

Just a thought, perhaps you could try some other hospitals in the area just in case something could have happened on the way to the appointment?

Tash said...

Had the same thought as Debbie -- is there a hospital close to them that they would've diverted to if the roads looked bad?

niobe said...

I'm pretty sure the hospital the nurse called (and I called myself later) is the closest to their
house, which is why they picked it. But I don't know where Kyrie works (she just started a new job) so I guess there might be some hospital closer to that....

moplans said...

I'm hoping she was in triage when you called.

debbie said...

Are there any others located somewhere in between their house and the appointment?
I don't want to make you any more nervous than you may already be feeling, but a friend was in a car accident a few summers ago and I had to call four hospitals in the area before I finally found him.

Oh sweetie! What everyone else has said -- ditto. I'll be hoping and worrying along with everyone else. Hang in there.

Hang in there, I know our brains are already preprogrammed to go right to worst case scenario but there are a lot of reasons why she would have missed the appt., many have already been mentioned. If it makes you feel any better my cell phone just partially 'broke' denying me access to my address book and call logs, so if I don't have your number committed to memory I can't reach you. With your weather issues she may very well just be out of contact or there may have ben another type of family emergency for her that has nothing to do with the pg.
I'll be with the others, checking back every 5 minutes waiting to hear GOOD news from you.
I know your not big on hugs so how about just a strong hand squeeze and the everything is going to be alright vibe?
xxoo
