Hello all-The drop off starts tonight-the address is 52/52a Larchwood*
St,but the actual drive way is around the corner-tonights drop off will include 1 head romaine lettuce,1 head boston lettuce,1 Head escarole,1 Bunch Pac choi,1 bunch pea Tendrils and 1 Bunch
spinach for the small, and 2 of everything for the large-try to remember to bring bags, and I am there from 5:30-8-See you all tonight,Looking forward toit

I'm looking forward to it too.

I just received the above (reproduced almost in its entirety) email, which means that our CSA, which we joined thanks to Magpie's suggestion, begins its deliveries of tasty, farm-fresh veggies (and the occasional fruit) tonight.

All that's left for me to do is to try to remember to bring bags and to figure out what to do with 1Bunch Pac choi** and 1 bunch pea Tendrils.

*Not the actual name of the actual street, which derives from a different and non-coniferous variety of tree.

**Also known as pak choy, bai tsai, bok chow, pok choi, and (more familiarly, to me at least) bok choy.

If my garden actually works, I'm a bit flustered at all I'll have to deal with as well. I may need to look into pickling.

Yum! Think Asian flavors and braise/stir fry the pak choi. Toss some pea shoots in at the end.

Save some pea shoots for a green salad.

And yeah, bring bags - all winter long, I use cloth grocery bags - then summer hits, and I start taking the plastic ones again because they're perfect for collecting and storing the CSA goods.

Get a skillet really hot, add just about a table spoon of oil and throw the greens in. Add some minced garlic and ginger and a bit of oyster sauce or soy sauce and your good to go. This is one of our favorite dishes. Mmmmmmmmm. Our csa was full too, over a years waiting list here. Bah!

FattyP: Gosh, now my mouth is watering. That sounds soooo good. And just so you (and RPM) know -- it took me almost two years to get a space in this CSA.

I find it easy to overcook bok choy in a stir fry. I steam for about 1/2min and then pour oyster sauce over it and serve it as a side to something else stir-fryish.

I take it csa is a veggie co-op?

B: CSA =community supported agriculture - basically, buying produce from a local farm. For a CSA in your area (if you're in the US), plug your zip code into this csa locator

I loved doing the CSA thing when I lived in the states.

Bok Choy is probably my favourite food.. as suggested above sauted is the way to go. I wash mine and then when they are still damp toss them in a pan with hot oil. I like them with ginger, but my husband perfers them with garlic. Then at the end I splash in some soy sauce. Oh so yummy!!!!

We just show up and are told how many things from each box to take . . . then spend the entire way home trying to remember what that green leafy thing was that we put in our bag! Hope you enjoy. Rumor has it we might be getting our first tomatos at our CSA Tuesday - so excited. . . so freaking tired of greens!
