listen to the music

It's gotten over eight million views on YouTube, but if you’re prone to night terrors, I can’t in good conscience recommend this Indian kids video. It’s an oddly animated, strangely authoritarian-sounding rendition of a creepy, yet catchy, song. And, despite the title, it doesn't resemble any nursery rhyme I’ve ever heard.

It’s definitely not safe for work. But only because if they hear it (and it is LOUD), your coworkers will think you’ve gone off the deep end.

Also. Is anyone else troubled by the fact that, while the characters are named Rhyme Man, Rhyma and Rhymey, there isn’t a single rhyme in the entire thing?

p.s. Cole loved it.

Someone needs to teach that little cartoon girl how to sit like a lady. Or perhaps wear pants.

@Melissa: And what exactly is the purpose of those bizarre flies buzzing around at the bottom of the screen?

Um, perhaps I've watched this video just a few times too many.

I would say it's a sign of my vast overexposure to children's programming when I say that it really seem all that weird to me.

My daughter is probably responsible for half of those you tube hits. She also loves the Rhyme Man's cover of 'Baa Baa Black Sheep'. You should check it out. The creepy leer on the sheep's face is priceless.

@tracyOC: Thanks! Now I know what I'll be watching when I get home. Over and over again.

Haha wow. I have no words.

Whoa. Rhyme Man seems to have a personality disorder.

That is truly bizarre. Our assessment is that Rhyme Man is creepy. Did anyone else notice when they reached the end or the clap your hands and stomp your feet that the clapping and stomping was not in time with the music. There were also a few times when they focused on Rhyme Man and his mouth wasn't moving in sync with his words. Just odd!

We've watched a couple of these videos on YouTube, but I'd never been formally introduced to Rhyme Man or Rhyma or Rhymey before. (Like the above commenter, my daughter likes Baa Baa Black Sheep) This is why my husband sticks with Taylor Swift and the Rolling Stones. My girl will now sing Wild Horses whenever he puts it on. I do love how Rhyme Man rolls the r in around when he chimes in!

There is an alternate Indian nursery rhyme animator, with a very cheerful woman. Search London Bridge...slightly less creepy.

So funny - V. hated this one, although she was a fan of Baa Baa Black Sheep in the same series for a while. But now she hates that one too.

All my friends with kids about Cole's age have confirmed that Cole is very mainstream in his reaction:)

And your intro/description is SPOT on! Crazy. Off to attempt my first night of sleep after watching - hoping against hope to be spared the night terrors:)

Just dreadful!

ACK! We had FINALLY moved past the nightly desire for fricking Rhyme Man and you go reminding me of that craziness. Ack and ack some more!

I'm not sure how we found it, but this is one of my 21 month old's favorites! She claps when she wants to watch it :)

This reminds me of an aspect of toddler days I don't miss.

But, I'd choose it as the lesser of two evils over "Barney."

Uh oh. I think this tune is going to be with me today. All. Day.
