poem meme

via Phantom:

Take this quiz and discover what form of poetry you most closely resemble. Me, I 'm a cywydd llosgyrnog. (apparently, they've imposed vowel-rationing in Wales).

Terza Rima is my form. They gave a meaning, but I wasn't sure what kind of poetry that would be?

aurelia: I googled terza rima and here's what I came up with:

I have been one acquainted with the night. (a)
I have walked out in rain—and back in rain. (b)
I have outwalked the furthest city light. (a)
I have looked down the saddest city lane. (b)
I have passed by the watchman on his beat (c)
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain. (b)
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet (c)
When far away an interrupted cry (d)
Came over houses from another street, (c)
But not to call me back or say good-by; (d)
And further still at an unearthly height (e)
One luminary clock against the sky (d)
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right. (e)
I have been one acquainted with the night. (e)

Kind of pretty, no?

I too am a terza rima.

Huh.

I was a terza rima too.

You know, as a former English teacher, I really should have known some examples of that kind of poetry. Errrr.

I can get down with some Robert Frost. But I'd rather have me some Dorothy Parker.

Hmm, I'm a ballad.

Niobe, isn't a=e there? Or is that not a general rule for this format?

I guess I better go take the quiz...

That is pretty.

The quiz says I'm a heroic couplet. Considering it then describes me as being precise, fond of order, and liking everything in its place, it's totally wrong! Maybe I might aspire to these things because my mom is very much a heroic couplet type, but I fail.

It told me I could be a triolet instead, and that seems much more appropriate.

Yours seems fitting though.

Little do they know that I'm a quasi-recluse - think Pynchon. They totally got that "never shuts up" portion right, though. I am a talker and I ALWAYS put my thoughts out there.

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile. Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away I let mine out, and chatter all the while.I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day Is any day that's spent without a friend,With nothing much to do or hear or say. I like to be with people, and depend On company for being entertained; Which seems a good solution, in the end.

Har, I'm the first ottava rima. Often used for mock epics. That'll do. But so close to being a limerick. Darn.
