I am eating blueberries as I read your blog.

So funny.

For a moment, just a moment, I thought they were huckleberries. And I found myself, without warning, standing on a mountain-side, with the warm summer sun beating down on my back, plucking berries into my pot as fast as my little fingers could pop them from the bush. And popping every third one into my mouth, of course. Thanks for triggering that memory.

I had a set of the Disney-appropriated stories when I was little, and one of my favorites books in the set was Aladdin because of an illustration of jewel-like fruits. I couldn't decide it I wanted to eat them or wear them. I definitely wanted to put them in my mouth, regardless. This picture reminds me of that illustration.

Oh. So perfect and sun-touched. I can almost taste their sweetness. Reminds me-time to take the troups out pickin! Always such fun.
Tell me, did you bake anything exquisite with that prize pick?

Pick them, eat them or throw them?

everyone who asked: I ate blueberries until my lips were blue. I was hoping to make a blueberry crumble, but I'm not sure if they'll be enough left.

I love the ones that are not quite ripe, but since no one else likes them, I picked blue blueberries and ate greenish-purple blueberries.

Adrienne: I love the image. And I'm impressed that you can distinguish huckleberries from blueberries. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever tasted or even seen a huckleberry.
