free stuff redux

Another give-free-stuff-away meme, this one from Rhymes With Javelin. In this iteration, the free stuff has to be handmade, but otherwise, the same rules apply: sign up for free stuff, post the same offer on your blog, give away free stuff.

I can't knit amazingly beautiful things like S or Amelie or Furrow or paint amazingly beautiful things like Basilbean or sew amazingly beautiful things like Christina or bake amazingly tasty things like My Reality.

But one creative thing I can do is take photos and I thought I could give some of them away to the first, say, five people to respond. I can have them enlarged to 8x10 photos (glossy or matte) or blown up to some kind of poster size: 11x14, 12x 18, 16x18* or possibly a little bigger, depending on the shot. You could chose one of the pictures I've already posted or suggest a subject for a new shot (keeping in mind that sending indecent items through the mails is a federal crime, punishable by up to ten years' imprisonment).

First five commenters (or more, if I'm feeling generous) get a photo of their choice. And if you're feeling at all hesitant about taking advantage of this offer, just think how deeply wounded my all-too-fragile ego will be if I discover that (sob) I can't find any takers even when I'm giving it away.

*All measurements in inches, which you should be able to convert with the help of this calculator.

Edited to add: Okay, I think I have enough takers. Everyone who signed up, please, please email me your mailing address (that is, a real, physical address I can send the picture to) and tell me which picture you'd like. If you don't specify, you'll probably get the yellow leaf from November 24.

I LOVE your photos, all of them but sadly all I have to offer right now is my aforementioned amazing peeing and pooing 16 year old cat....I am sure you wil be overrun with takers on your offer!

P.S. My perching cat doesn't aid the diet although she has been known to knock things off top of said fride "accidentally" when someone walks by, especially another kitty. Hmmmm

sorry, "fridge"

I hate typing

ooh I'd love one!

and thanks for the knitting compliment :)

Great idea! But unfortunately, like kalakly, I have nothing of interest to offer. There are a bunch of things I do half-assed, but nothing I think anyone would want. (Complaining. I'm REALLY good at that. And procrastinating.)

But I'll look forward to following this and reading about what others come up with.

I would absolutely LOVE one of your photos. I will leave it up to you to choose the format, size, and subject matter.

And thank you very much for the kind compliment:)

basilbean: At least give me some idea -- what colors, nature or urban, what season?

Kalakly and Zee: I am absolutely sure that there are things you can give people that they would love -- a cherished recipe or two, a necklace strung with a few beads, a handful of pretty stones or buttons, bulbs or seeds like ones you have in your garden. It's, y'know, the thought that counts.

This is such a fun idea!!

I love this - the spreading of craft and joy. I'm not signing up, not that I don't want to, but because I've already committed myself to tchotchkes for three other people, earlier in the viral incarnation of this meme-like project.

What a great idea! Now I'm going to have to think about something that I could make... That's hard!

Ooh, can I sign up for this? This is such a fun idea!

Sure, anyone who wants to sign up, just email me an address I can mail the picture to and a description of the picture I should send. Either tell me what it's a picture of, tell me what date it was posted on, or give me some hint as to which colors, size, urban/nature. season -- somehting that will give me an idea of what you want.

Wow I would love one of your recent winter shots but sadly have no ability whatsoever to give back with handmade stuff.
You can clearly see where I inherited this lack of skill if you look at the photo I posted of what my mom made me.

Have you hit 5? I can't tell with the backing and forthing and the love the idea but not sure what to send in return.

But I'm not sure what I'd send in return. Hmmm.

Anyway, I'll cross that bridge if I come to it. I love love love one of your photos from the carnival, when you went after it closed, when it was raining and there were puddles? I don't remember when it was....

What's YOUR favorite photo you've ever posted?

niobe said...

Which Box and Lisa B: just sent me an address and I'll mail the photos to you. Remember, you don't have to send *me* anything. Just post the offer on your blog and send stuff to the first 3 or whatever number you want people who comment.

I think my own favorite photo -- though it's not high enough quality (too few pixels) to make a decent print -- is the self-portrait with the books.

I love your photos. I do not want you to send one all the way to London. But if I were stateside, I would so be all over this.

I love your photos, but I am much too lazy at the moment to offer free crafty stuff on my blog. Maybe when I have finished my metal smithing classes, I might feel like I could offer something decent?

My favorite photo of yours is on the terrace in Paris, with the rain. In case anyone wants that one...I think it would look super, super cool blown up. That's my 2 cents, for one of your five first comments.

Wheels on the bus: Sending a photo to London will cost under $2.00, so if you really want one, I'd be more than happy to send one.

I would love one of your photos. I don't have a blog, but I'll happily send you homemade walnut fudge!

I would LOVE on of your photos. They are absolutely spectacular. Each and every one you post is beautiful and moving, even if they are 'just' cat pictures. Your eye is amazing. Your talent is fantastic.

I love Nov 10th, the rain on the window! Your work is breath taking to say very least. I do not have a blog but I love your idea!

Is there any way that a latecomer (time differences you see) can sign up? I love the photos you take, but I don't expect you to post all the way to Australia!

Having said that, it is my birthday today.... *nudge nudge* :D Maybe you could email a photo (or two) to me, and I can get it printed here?

I love to see autumn and winter. We don't have a "fall" here as most trees are not deciduous. I also live in a hot area that doesn't see snow.

Niobe, I am endlessly inspired by your generosity and the beauty that you lend to ordinary things...things that are walked by, forgotten, ignored, taken for granted...you find the importnace in those things and document it for the rest of us. A hopeful endeavor.

Thanks.

My choice would have been the self-portrait with the books, but since the resolution isn't hight enough I will have to give it some more thought.

Thank you in advance:)

I can't email you from your link due to the fact that I use web-based mail versus an installed client on my pc. If you are still feeling generous email me your email at allie00@gmail.com and I'll reply with an address. I know I'm very late but I'll take a "leftover". Your photos are great. :)
