all i can say
So, this is the part where I make the trite, yet true, observation that in lots of ways, the best part of 2007 was having the chance to meet you -- a few of you IRL, the rest through your blogs, comments, and emails. I'm not sure what I thought was going to happen when I started blogging a little over a year ago.* Certainly, I didn't realize that I'd be tapping into such an enormous reservoir of goodwill and hopefulness. I guess I probably could have made it through this past year without you. But I'm very glad I didn't have to.
In unrelated developments, two of my favorite bloggers -- Julia at I Won't Fear Love and someone else who I'll link to if she gives me permission Christina at Apron Strings -- have recently gotten some unexpectedly, uh, positive news. Stop by and express appropriately muted and low-key good wishes.
*It's impossible to remember exactly when I started this blog because many of the first posts are backdated. I wrote a bunch at same time, then posted them to random dates in the past.

I'm very glad I didn't have to make it through this year without the community you gathered around you!
And I love knowing that about the random backdates!
Niobe - I am glad to have found you and your blog in 2007. You have helped me and inspired me! I wish you all the happiness in the world for 2008!!
Absolutely. It is such a treasure.
Wishes for many happy returns for you in 2008.

Using My Words
what can i say? i'm in total agreement. my hope is that we *will* meet IRL before too long.
I'm glad to have met you, too.
Happy New Year, Niobe.
I would love to meet you IRL. I'm coming to DC later this week. Are you near there? Is there a chance we could get together?
I love being a follower of your blog, Niobe.
goodwill and hopefullness. yes. I hear a lot about people on the internet being hateful and ripping others apart. And I'm sure that's out there. but not in our little corner, thankfully, and I am grateful for what we've found here, too.
Happy New Year, Niobe!
May 2008 bring renewed hope and unexpected blessings!
Thank you. And it should go without saying that I am glad I didn't have to get through that year without you and your blog. But I just said it anyway.
I'm so thankful for your blog. I'm too damn lazy to read books these days and your blog is damn good readin'. I would say it's literature...or (insert British accent) lit-rat-chure.
It's been a pleasure reading your blog.
Happy New Year, love
Happy New Year, and like all the others I'm so glad you chose to write here and let us share a little bit of your life.
Happy New Year Niobe and happy blog-aversary as well. Echoing the others - it's been a pleasure to read you.
well, i am glad you're here. and you and the rest of my blogging friends, saved me more than once. and in more than one way.
I am very glad to have you, too.
I'm really glad to have found your blog, too. Best wishes to you for a peaceful 2008.
Although I haven't "known" you long, your words express so much and have helped me. I'm not the most blog-savvy person, don't know the rules etc but I do know that when I stumbled across your blog googling stillbirth and all things related to it, I read your description and I was "all tears" too.
May an abundance good things come your way in the coming year.
I agree - I think that blogs/blogging ranks as one of my very favorite things of 2007!
I missed my own blog-birthday in November (while others were participating in NaBloPoMo I managed to go the entire month without posting at all).
It is so funny to think that when I started blogging I was completely oblivious to the community of (as you put it) goodwill and hopefulness that I was finding. I have enjoyed reading your blog, that is for sure, but more than that I have enjoyed reading your comments--on my blog and countless others. You are such a generous person and your kindness and thoughtfulness in offering your perspective, or even just the acknowledgment of your presence, has so very often made a great difference in how I looked at or felt about things.
I often marvel at how you do it. How do you manage to post almost every day as well as read and comment on so many blogs...and still maintain such an obviously active life?
At any rate, you inspire me.
