stars and stripes
My office is next to the harbor and the channel is always filled with boats: sailboats and motorboats, catamarans and ferries, tugboats and container ships. As the weather gets warmer, there's often a three-masted schooner floating by the dock. Yesterday morning, I stood on the walkway, and, looking down, saw a shoal of medusas -- jellyfish round and pale as dinner plates, blooming like ghostly flowers. Their transparence is hard to capture, but you can see one of them in the top picture. The reds and whites are fractured reflections of an American flag.
I promised myself I wouldn't say anything about the meet-up last weekend. But if you're feeling extra inquisitive and want all the details, take a look here, here, here, here, here (scroll down for post), here, or here.
Have you met other bloggers? Are there any that you'd really, really like to meet?

love that second shot.
and as for your final question, uh, you? LOL!
Meeting you was one of life's unexpected pleasures-that and the Jellyfish in the harbour.
Great pictures. I love the looks of jellyfish but I'm also glad I haven't seen many around here.
While I have met people I knew from the internets, no bloggers yet. Of course I'd like to meet you - and not only because of that chocolate cake.
Those shots are SO COOL!
And I have not met any bloggers in person. At least not yet!
Beautiful shots. We saw jellyfish in the harbor here last year...and they are quite eerie and beautiful all at the same time.

Lets try this again. Blogger kicked out my comment.
I am just catching up on blogs. I saw your news. I am over the moon for you but can only imagine how you are feeling about it all. I will be holding you close in my thoughts and prayers. Your news has made my day!
I have met many bloggers before. It is awesome putting words with a face.
That first shot. Awesome.
And I would have given a whole lot to have met you and the others this past weekend. Sigh.
I've met my online bulletin board friends (we've been together almost 7 years now) IRL -- well, a lot of them. I think individually we've confirmed everyone's existence. But never a blogger. I will most likely meet CLC soon, and I'm on pins and needles with excitement. I'd love to meet you of course. And just about anyone who I read, really. Just listening to some of my fellow bloggers on the phone is fun -- putting a voice and intonation to the words.
Nice shot. Of the bloggers I didn't know before blogging, I have now met 2 IRL, and talked with one on the phone. I would like to meet everyone who comments on my blog, plus those I read regularly.
I have met a blogger or two. And I have even liked them.
LOL at reality's comment!
I've met several now, and I'd like to meet more. I would like to meet Cecily at UpperCase Woman, just because I've seen her video blogs and I'm dying to know if she is as cool in real life as she seems on the video!
Why, YOU, of course!
Love these photos.
I've met several bloggers. Have not been disapointed yet. Only that none live close enough for a regular meetup.
Never met a blogger. Would love to meet my entire blogroll, which of course includes you!
By reading the others' posts on the weekend, it sounds divine, a grand time had by all. And SHAME on you for not at least letting your picture be taken..just one teensy picture! (laughing);-)
Oh, almost forgot. Those pictures are VERY cool. Especially the first shot. Let me just ask...do you ALWAYS have your camera up your sleeve? I was just wonderin'.
Ok. Yes, slap me. Those are probably taken with a phone, right? Heh.
I won't comment any more today. Promise.
Actually, I think I'm the only person in the world who has a cellphone that doesn't have a camera.
I don't usually tote my camera around, but I went in early and brought my camera because I was going to take pictures of the schooner, which is a very cool replica of an old sailing ship. Unfortunately, that series of shots didn't come out very well.
I refuse to have a phone with a camera.
I had my honeymoon in Nova Scotia, and we stayed one night in Lunenberg. Lovely. Probably in the same chintz and floral covered inn. I've never met anyone in blogland, but would like to, I think. Am shy.
I love jellyfish. They're so weird. There's a floor-to-ceiling cylindrical tank of them at the Norwalk aquarium. It's kind of stunning.
I've met a blogger or two.
Oh, I met a few. But I am greedy, and would like to meet many more. Frankly I think blogger should be giving out free money for airline tickets to make that a reality. A great business model, no?
the list of those I'd like to meet is far too long. I've met the lovely gals from Wherever Ewe Go, There Ewe Are and Soccer MOm in Denial, and the handsome Ambassador from The Ambassador Returns. I was supposed to meet Julie Pippert and Kyla, but was too sick to make the trip, alas.
I met my best friend (who literally lives almost 1000 miles away) on a message board. It's amazing how the Internet bridges gaps. I've met up with a few other surrogates and IPs through the years. I'm relatively new to the blogging community, but the people I "know" the most thus far and would like to meet are you, meg, and luna. I'd also like to meet Tiffany from Electric Boogaloo on my blogroll. She's hilarious.
i hope you had a good time, but i don't know how much of those other posts i can read. they make me sort of sad. i bummed about blogher, but not terribly. but missing this maritime trip actually really made me very blue. i guess it is the intimacy and the great people that i am sad to have missed.
