I love it! I hope that all the members of the family are getting some nightly rest!

Heh. Like that shot. How is he eating and sleeping for you?

Though I know you have already researched it I am sure, just a tip - Dr. Browns bottles are so great - they keep air away from the nipple and the issues with gas on the tummy greatly decreases. I used them with babies #3 and 4 with great success. (they can be a little bit of a pain to clean though b/c of the valve, but as long as you keep up with the tiny brush that comes with each one, you are set)
Please feel free to ignore this advice! I know you must be getting more than you like to hear right now. Just thought I would offer that suggestion up.

Thirtysomething: I'll definitely look into Dr. Browns bottles.

(and I'll tell you a secret: Unlike most people, I *love* getting advice. It makes me incredibly happy to know that someone is thinking about me and taking the time to offer a suggestion. To get all analytical about it, my attitude probably stems from the fact that my mother has always taken a completely hands-off approach and will never, ever, ever give me advice about anything -- even if I ask her what she thinks I should do.)

I guess we know how you're spending all your time...and probably most happily too.

Ahhh, well then can I suggest Playtex bottles and drop in bags? BPA free, and cheap cheap cheap. Easy to clean and unbreakable when the kid flings it too. Plus you can remove the air by just collapsing the bags.

As for formula? My pediatrician wishes that every person using the powdered kind would precisely measure the powder and water and mix well because she has seen lots of babies get very very ill and hospitalized from it being wrongly proportioned.

She recommends making a days' worth in the blender, so it's mixed exactly right and then putting it in bottles in the fridge, so it's done right, everytime, even when you are tired.

End of assvice, until months from now when you want some babyfood recipes, and then I have lots of those!

My husband is realy into car racing and Formula 1 is his absolute favorite. When we were pregnant with Sam we found a onesie at T.arget with a bottle on wheels that says "Formula One". I love it, but it make sme so sad...anyway, I like the title :-)

And no assvice here, but you can have my unused, unopened containers on formula they sent me from the OB's office that they sent me when I was expecting. Bastards. They're still sitting in my pantry--all 5 of them!

I second the Dr. Brown's assvice. They have more parts that a typical bottle, but they make a huge difference. The Avent bottles are pretty good, too, just be sure you are getting the BPA-free ones.

Nice photos, too!

Beautiful picture, I really love that green color. It's so vibrant. We used the Dr. Brown's and they were a great bottle ;o)
Enjoy your day,

where did you find such a great looking bottle, or is it just your photog skills?

Sarah: This is the bottle in the photo -- from Target, cheap and advertised as BPA-free.

But since so many people have mentioned Dr. Browns, I'm going to check those out.

If the bottles are working for you, then keep them.

We started out with the drop in liners and that got old after month. We're now on Dr. Browns (but we have two spewers and babies that were extremely gassy). Everyone has a favorite, so use what works best for the baby.

Gorgeous.

I was partial to avent bottles. But that might be because my lovely MIL pushed dr. Brown's as if they were the second coming, and back in those days I practiced oppositional politics whenever I could.

love the green.

Ha Ha Ha...the title of your post caught me by surprise. I almost expected a snap of a racing track and you. :)

Now I know what the race is about - diapers and feed! Have fun!

No bottle advice here. But when you get ready for baby food then I can help. I have the greatest teething cookie recipe EVER. Wondeful picture as always.

A bottle! For your son! I'll never get over my excitement. No assvice here, as I have no experience with babies that don't belong to me, but I do love the picture. Target should pay you and use it in an advertisement.

Anonymous said...

Oh, that should say "with babies that belong to me." Like, I don't have babies. Yeah.

Hey, I have formula coupons that I won't be using since I am bf. Would you like them?

Lurker delurking to congratulate you!!!! I love your words and photos and phrases and links!

May I recommmend a great sleep book...Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr Weissbluth?
This is the only bit of unsolicited new baby advice I ever give. Best $15 I ever spent.
Blessings to you and Cole!

I second the "Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child" book, too. You can't really do much at first until they adjust to life on the outside world, but then I found it very helpful.

I sent an email using your email bug for an address to send the formula coupons. Let me know if that is not a good email address.

We used Dr Brown's too (back when they were full of BPA, so I'm waiting for the extra ears to grow, or whatever), but I'd say if babe seems fine as is, leave him be. Those suckers are a bitch to clean.

My one bit of advice (oh, I feel so FREEE!!) is to see if he'll accept cold or room temp bottles. At 14 months, we still have to heat Zo's milk.
