iced venti nonfat latte

Just remember: caffeine is a drug. And, like all drugs* can be a lot of fun should be consumed only in moderation.

Is Niobe been hitting the latte a little too hard this morning? Let's look at the evidence, namely, a few of her recent tweets.

And, moving right along, what's your favorite drink? Check out Calliope's Photo Friday for lots of pretty beverage (and cooking) pictures. Then go ahead and add your own.

*NB:I am, of course, referring exclusively to those drugs legal in all 50 states. Don't look at me like that.

Okay, ABIDE I understand. But PSYCHO spelled sideways? I am confused.

niobe said...

@magpie: Um...it probably only makes sense to me.

You see, PSYCHO sounds like SY-CO, which if you reverse the syllables, which is what I mean by "spelling it sideways" it's COSY.

:heading back to Starbucks for another round:

Thanks, Magpie, for getting there first! I was going to ask the same question! More coffee (or my drug of choice...Mt. Dew - aka as close to meth as you can legally get!) for everyone and we will all start spelling things sideways!

Also, thanks for the abide insight. I will never see that word the same way again.

v. glad you explained the psycho sideways bit. Clearly I need more coffee in me in order to properly speak (translate?) Niobe.

@magpie, @areyoukiddingme @calliope: In my twisted little mind, "spelled sideways" is basically the equivalent of an anagram. Or, in the case of psycho, a syllable anagram.

So, for example, TEACH spelled sideways is CHEAT.

I clearly didn't have enough coffee today to understand spelling sideways. And I thought I was crazy about languages.

You know who I am. I can sell you LOTS of what it is you crave. I have contacts.

Whole bean or ground?

Talking/spelling sideways? Geez, it's only 9 a.m. here and I already need a drink in order to understand the lingo.

But then, I always need a drink:)

You sound really happy in this and your last few posts. It's nice. If that's the caffeine talking, I gotta get me some.

With a newborn and a toddler, I'd say you're only in trouble if your latte supply dries up. Bottoms up! (I could make that into a pun, but I won't).

Bwahahaha!

I'm hitting the stuff hard today, too. Just finishing a grande mocha light frappe with TWO extra shots of espresso. Mmmmmm! I think I can keep from nodding off for a while now.

niobe said...

@dora: Would you mind holding that up next to the screen, so that I can reach through with my straw and take just a teeny weeny sip? kthxbai

Newborns don't need an instruction manual, just lots and lots of caffeine! Then some more!

*gives side-eye*

You are one sick and twisted individual Niobe Thebes.

(Thanks for your comment on my photo, I think you are reaching through the internet and influencing me with your mystical-caffeinated-sideways-spelling-psycho powers)

I was also confused about the "spelling things sideways" thing. Glad you explained it. Funny how teach spelled sideways is cheat. So fitting.

And thanks a lot, now I am going to have to make S go get me some Starbucks. Besides, God would not have allowed man to invent caffeine if it was all that bad :)

I knew starting my morning with your blog would be a good idea. All sorts of new fun facts about language (and Niobe).

I can't do coffee. I just don't like the taste though I think it smells wonderful. Also too much caffeine (which is any coffee really) makes me a wee bit too jittery.

My favorite drink lately has been Odwalla's Mango Tango. Trader Joe's also has a good mango smoothie drink. I may have issues with caffeine, but sugar is clearly another story.

I totally got the sideways bit. Does that make me odd-out? I love your picture for the visceral reaction it evoked; in lieu of the coffee product (not a coffee-er), my mind immediately went to a slushified cherry dr. pepper. Ahhhh
