truth in advertising
While browsing through the reviews at Candy Blog, I came across a most yummy-sounding Swedish treat. According to the review, at 177 calories per ounce,* the candy bar might win an award for the highest caloric density product ever sampled. The review also said it tasted like eating the frosting off of a piece of cake. And, oddly, she said it as if that were a bad thing. But what most attracted me to the candy was its name. How could anyone possibly resist a candy bar called Pigall?
*An ounce is something like 28.35 grams. If anyone cares.
Edited to add: Buy Pigall here. You know you want to.

Oh, my--really? Pig-All, Pigalle, the inevitability of self-destruction.
one word: yum.
I've had a bite of one of those, actually, because of course my husband couldn't resist when we were in Stockholm. I think he liked it, but I of course would not be into chocolate covered chocolate butter cream. Oh, man, just typing those words made me nauseous.
mmmmmm....chocolate covered chocolate butter cream.
must.....get......PIGALL!!!!!
Something tasting like frosting is a bad thing?!?! Hmmmm.... I always knew I didn't have the right sensibilities to be a food critic.
sigh. that's just what i'd want, then. somehow i always go for the thing that has the highest caloric density.
I actually have a svedish friend. I know what to ask for the next time she goes home. mmmmmm.hmmmm.
Now, this depends... If this is American-type cake frosting, Pigall and I will not be friends. That stuff is way too sweet for me. But if it's Old Country-type cake frosting, BRING IT ON!!!!!
How cute that someone has a candy blog.. :) I'm not sure if I'd like a candy that tasted like frosting. I'm someone who leaves the frosting on cake because its way too sweet.. :)
I asked my husband (native of Sweden) about this and he says the name sounds appetizing enough in Swedish. He says the candy sounds familiar but can't remember eating it. We go to Sweden on Saturday so I can get you some if you want. :)
Eva: How about this: while you're there, could you try one and give us a report? (Sara doesn't really like chocolate, so she's not the best judge).
My favorite chocolate bar proudly lists butterfat as a primary ingredient. Not butter, butterFAT.
It's the best chocolate ever.
mmmm........butterfat.
And here I always thought that butter was fat.
I don't know if I'll have room in my tummy after all the licorice and cheese, but I'll see what I can do!
