and another one

Here's one more in my series of parody posts. Of course, make sure to click the link so you can read the genuine version.

Moving Forward
(with apologies to Pamela Jeanne at Coming2Terms)

The other day, as I was trying to hang a picture in my living room, the hammer unaccountably missed its mark. As I cursed and watched my thumb swell to nearly twice its normal size, inevitably, it reminded me yet again of the other, more poignant pain that I carry with me at all times. Infertility is, it occurred to me, like a piece of carry-on luggage that there's no room for in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of us. Therefore, we are compelled to balance it precariously on our laps, in the same way that our lives precariously balance joy and hope with the searing consciousness of loss. But I don't want you to think that I'm totally obsessed. Because I don't think about infertility all the time. Sometimes I think about the book that I'm writing about infertility.

I know that, in the eyes of the world, I wear my infertility like a cloak of invisibility. Yet I have vowed that my voice will be heard and that my invisibility itself will vanish, so that those unthinking fertile women and men are forced to take note of my existence. I wonder if they'd notice me if I walked down the street, standing tall and proud, wearing my pomegranate bracelet. Just my pomegranate bracelet.

For the other bloggers who've requested parodies of their blogs: I'm (slowly) working on them and I promise that (as I've done for the previous bloggers) before I post the parody, you'll get the chance to review it.

I think you've found a new career direction! Not that you need one, mind you...

You are a natural! I may have to enlist you to fill in for me when I'm out town. No one would know the difference. Got my biggest laugh from these lines: "Because I don't think about infertility all the time. Sometimes I think about the book that I'm writing about infertility." Guilty as charged!

Niobe, I give you permission to parody/imitate me!

I am too tired to work on mine tonight, but it is my next project.

Wow! As Slouching Mom said (or "sagde," since VB seems somehow to have changed the control language on my computer to Danish!)this could be a new career. You know, like Rich Little. Only different.

Do you think you might have a chance to do me? I don't think I have a "voice" yet in blogging, so it'd be interesting to see if you agree or disagree and where
If you don't have time, and otherwise an actual "life" then of course I completely understand haha

missing one-- I'd be happy to. I think that everyone has a characteristic voice -- It's just that, for me anyway, some are harder to imitate than others. Also, for other reasons, it's a little trickier to mimic blogs that are entirely or almost entirely focussed on painful topics.

Good point. And yes, painfulness is the sole purpose of my blog. Sometimes I just think my "voice" is all over the place. But you are right, if a painful post was made into parody I could potentially get upset.
Oh wise one! :)
